What happend with mine is that after two hours the little red light would shut off, but the pot remained on and kept heating the coffee. My biggest complaint up until it broke was that the plastic around the glass carafe easily stained and was a pain to keep up with. It would not have been appreciated if I had gone off for vacation and had the pot remain on while I was gone. It functioned consistently well up until that point. If you already own one, keep this electrical problem in mind. After the coffee brews, there is two hours until it automatically shuts off.
I feel that this coffee pot is way over-priced for the amount of use I got out of it and I will not be buying this brand again. I had this coffee pot for just over a year. I liked how fast it brewed coffee and the ability to pull the pot out while brewing to pour a cup, but you can get these features with a lot of coffee pots out there. It had to be unplugged after using for safety, and that was kind of a deal breaker with me.
On this, when the noise finally stops, it is done. This pot is very noisy. The Cuisinart chimes when it is finished brewing. I did not keep the box or I would have returned it.It is nice looking, especially in the blue. I wanted an all metal coffee maker, not one with plastic in all the areas that contact the water. I really feel it is unfair advertising to have this allowed to call itself all metal.I am concerned, as many others, with heated water contacting plastic surfaces as heat causes leaching of many chemicals.I replaced a Cuisinart which is much quieter. It is awkward to fill.
They are all going through Hamilton Beach who doesn't make it any more. The problem is that Today's Concepts, Amazon and Foto Connection are advertising that they have this product in Apple color, but once you order it, you'll find out they don't. Just and FYI for you all. We ordered this coffee pot Dec 3rd, to be told by Today's concepts that they have to go through the manufacturer Hamilton Beach to get it. Well, Hamilton Beach already told me that it is discontinued. It's a waste of time.
It's gone to the landfill now and I've switched to a manual drip cone over an insulated carafe.Greener and cheaper. I guess the water heating element had melted it, making me wonder what kind of hot-plastic chemicals were seeping into my coffee. Then I noticed some blistering in the plastic lid that covers the water well. I contacted the manufacturer to see if I could purchase a replacement cover for the water well and they never responded. For a year and a half, this coffee maker would have earned 5 stars. I bought it for it's solid construction and as a side benefit, it made darned good coffee. Then the burner plate started to peel.dramatically.
I did, however, get the other matching pieces I ordered. I will try to find it elsewhere on the internet; very disappointing transaction. Despite the fact that Amazon still shows the red coffee maker today as being "in stock" at Today's Concept, after a month wait I got an email saying the order was cancelled because it is unavailable. I would not have ordered anything in the "Moroccan Red" if I had known I couldn't get the whole set.
